Attorney Biography: Sandra Sigler

Sandra Sigler is a shareholder of Sigler & Nelson LLC where her practice consists primarily of probate litigation, guardianship and conservatorship proceedings, bankruptcy law and matters arising from the financial exploitation of elders.

Sandra earned her law degree from Washburn University School of Law along with a Certificate in Business and Transactional Law. She served as an extern with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the District of Kansas before practicing in Topeka, Kansas.  Sandra returned to Colorado in 2013 and is an active member of the American, Colorado, Kansas, Denver Bar Associations and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA).

Sandra’s experience in elder law and probate litigation includes litigating contested guardianship and conservatorship proceedings for adults; Will contests and fiduciary defense actions; representation of guardians, conservators and fiduciaries; trust administration and trust litigation along with estate planning and estate administration.  Sandra began her legal career in Kansas working as a trial attorney in insurance deense and worker’s compensation cases.  Her background also includes experience in venture capital financing and as a registered lobbyist for the insurance industry.

Effective communication and proactive planning are essential parts of helping clients resolve complex issues regarding the transfer of wealth or disputes related to the appointment of a guardian or conservator for a family member.  As a trained mediator, Sandra works with clients to develop a strong legal plan with the client’s goals in mind.

Sandra serves as Chair of the Civic and Community Affairs Committee of the Elder Law and Trust & Estate Sections of the Colorado Bar Association and participates in the coordination of Senior Law Days across our state.  She is a member of the Adams County Community Adult Protection Team, The Colorado Guardianship Association and is a contributing author to the Colorado Senior Law Handbook.  Sandra is a frequent speaker on educational topics involving estate planning, elder law and financial exploitation.
